Obstetrician and gynecologist Katia Castillo, MD, brings her diverse background and passion for providing high-quality health care to Comprehensive Women’s OB/GYN, which has locations in Duluth and Dunwoody, Georgia. Dr. Castillo was born in Cartagena, Colombia, and was raised there and later in Lexington, Kentucky. She firmly believes that her diverse cultural experiences deepen her professional knowledge and ability to attract and serve a more culturally diverse client base.
Dr. Castillo’s medical journey began with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology and a minor in chemistry from the University of Florida. Later, she received her medical degree in obstetrics and gynecology from Mercer University’s School of Medicine. She then completed her residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, now known as Navicent Health Medical Center, in Macon, Georgia.
After beginning private practice in 1994, Dr. Castillo quickly emerged as a trusted source for medical care in the community she serves. She has board certifications in obstetrics and gynecology, and also in obesity medicine, and she is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Castillo primarily focuses on maintaining the best environment for women and partnering with them to manage any health concerns. She and her husband are both accomplished professionals who especially seek to enrich and empower the Hispanic community.
